Over the years we have developed a rich list of Internet Web resources, which we offer here to you.  This Links of General Interest page lists resources of general interest. Each resource includes the Web title, a brief summary, and the actual URL.

We will continue to edit this list from time-to-time. New resources will be highlighted for 30 days so you can more easily spot them. Please use the Contact form to send along any Web resources that you recommend for addition to this list.

OnGuardOnline — U.S. Government resource is the federal government’s website, managed by the Federal Trade Commission, to help you be safe, secure and responsible online.

Stop.Think.Connect. — U.S. Government resource
The Stop.Think.Connect. Campaign is a national public awareness campaign, sponsored by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and aimed at increasing the understanding of cyber threats and empowering the American public to be safer and more secure online.

FCC Small Business Cyber Planner — U.S. Government resource
Small Biz Cyber Planner is an online resource, sponsored by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), to help small businesses create customized cybersecurity plans. Use this tool to create and save a custom cyber security plan for your company, choosing from a menu of expert advice to address your specific business needs and concerns. The FCC also released a Cybersecurity Tip Sheet.

Instructions for configuration of Firefox and Chrome that are claimed to drastically improve your privacy online and protect yourself against unwanted and invisible tracking.

HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox, Chrome, and Opera extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making your browsing more secure.

A free software service that offers to obscure your location and computers identity while web browsing. Free.

WhatsMyIP — Determine characteristics about your IP address
Free web site that provides location and other information about your current IP address. Site also offers an Internet speed test and look up information for other IP addresses.

CCleaner — Software to clean out junk files
CCleaner scans your computer to locate and remove files that are unused or left-behind, resulting in better performance and better security. Versions for MS Windows, Apple Mac and Google Android.

Google Alerts — Monitor the Web for interesting content
Design and set alerts that Google’s search technology will find and summarize for you.
